The Wall That Heals
The Bay County Veterans Council is honored to Host the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, “The Wall That Heals” in Bay County this November.
The Wall That Heals honors the 58,281 service members who lost their lives and all those who served defending our country during the Vietnam War. A traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., the exhibit consists of The Wall That Heals replica and the Mobile Education Center. This three-quarter scale replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point.
The exhibit is free to the public and will be on display at the Callaway Recreational Complex, Callaway FL. The Wall That Heals will arrive under motorcycle escort on November 12th 2024, and will be open 24 hours a day beginning Thursday, November 14th, until closing Sunday, November 17th, at 2:00 p.m.
Of the 1,280 names inscribed from Florida, twenty-three (23) are from Bay County, and six (6) are from Gulf County. One of the prominent names from Port St. Joe is Clifford Chester Sims, a Medal of Honor recipient and namesake for the State Veterans Nursing Home in Callaway.
Bringing The Wall That Heals to Bay County is a significant endeavor, one that demands both effort and financial support. We invite you to consider contributing to this cause, as your donation, whether financial or in-kind, can make a meaningful difference. A member of our committee would be pleased to discuss those options with you. (Media – PIO will be contacting you about Media package)
