Bay County, Fla. – The Bay County Chamber of Commerce is collaborating with Destination Panama City and Visit Panama City Beach to celebrate Bay County’s number one industry: tourism. During the week of May 5 – 11, the State of Florida recognizes the importance of tourism in the state. The Bay County Chamber is taking it a step further to recognize the number one industry in Bay County for the entire month of May.

Because of Bay County’s assets for tourists and the economic impact tourism plays on the local economy, the Bay County Chamber of Commerce partners with the business community to celebrate the industry through numerous events. It is our hope visitors and residents alike learn more about the history of tourism in Bay County during this month and take pride in its value to the area.

During the Bay County Chamber’s Tourism Appreciation Month, the following activities will occur:

  • First Friday with the Beach – May 3, 7:30 am, FSU-PC Holley Center
    • Held on the first Friday of every month, First Friday is a great way for Chamber Members to network and collaborate on ways to help build a better Bay, together. During this event, members of the Bay County Chamber and the Panama City Beach Chamber will hear from Dan Rowe, President/CEO of Visit Panama City Beach, who will provide an update on tourism in Bay County and the benefits the area is seeing as a result. This event will serve as the official “kick-off” of the Bay County Chamber’s Tourism Appreciation Month.
  • 24th Annual Spring Classic Golf Tournament – May 17th, 8 am, Bay Point Golf Resort
    • Chamber Members and invited guests will have the opportunity to continue the celebration and make new connections at the golf tournament. Players will compete for first, second and third place while winning prizes from mini-games throughout the course. Following the tournament, golf balls will be dropped from a bucket truck as part of the chance to win Golf Ball Drop, presented by the Bay County Chamber Foundation.
