Through the Governmental Affairs Committee, the Chamber monitors issues affecting local businesses, builds relationships with elected officials and government leaders, develops legislative priorities, provides members with timely information and advocates for policies that support a strong business climate and a thriving Bay County.

Issues Affecting Bay County Business
Governmental Affairs isn't just about what happens during the legislative session. Local ordinances, state legislation, taxes, infrastructure, workforce policy, economic development and other government decisions can affect businesses throughout the year.
The Chamber monitors issues at the local, state and federal levels and works to help members understand what those decisions could mean for their businesses and our community.
Understanding Amendment 3
What could Amendment 3 mean for Bay County?
Bay County Government has released information and financial projections examining Amendment 3 and its potential impact on county property-tax revenues, services and future budgeting decisions.
Because changes to local government funding can affect services and infrastructure that support residents and businesses throughout Bay County, the Chamber encourages members to learn about the proposal, review the available information and make an informed decision.
The Bay County Chamber of Commerce has not taken a position for or against Amendment 3.
Information and financial projections regarding Amendment 3 are provided by Bay County Government.

Each year, the Bay County Chamber develops legislative priorities based on input from our membership, research into issues affecting the business community and conversations with community and government leaders.
These priorities guide the Chamber's advocacy efforts and help communicate the needs of Bay County businesses to elected officials at the local, state and federal levels.
Our priorities address issues that can influence Bay County's economic competitiveness, including business and economic development, workforce and education, infrastructure and transportation, military and defense, quality of life and other issues important to our community.

The Governmental Affairs Committee brings Chamber members together to stay informed about government activity, discuss issues affecting the business community and help shape the Chamber's advocacy priorities.
The committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month and is open to Bay County Chamber members.
