GCSC Visual & Performing Arts Presents: Textures of Remembrance
February 28 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents Textures of Remembrance by Daniel Esquivia Zapata. Daniel’s work explores ideas about historical memory, official historical narratives, and what he terms the politics of remembering. He does this through life-size figurative drawings that combine historical texts, the human body, plants, and animals to generate strong spaces that work as poetic imagery, probing the dynamics of narratives in history and historical memory.
The exhibit will be on display in the Amelia Center Gallery (AC 112) from Friday, February 28 to Friday, April 11, with an opening reception on February 28, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Daniel will give a gallery talk during the reception.)
Gallery hours are Monday – Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Friday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Admission is free.
