The 5th Annual Bay County Chamber of Commerce Block Party was held Thursday, March 9th from 5-7 p.m. in front of the Chamber building at 235 West 5th Street in Panama City, FL. This is the 3rd year the Bed Races were a part of the event. Hundreds of community businesses and residents attended the event as our Board of Directors served them with food donated by Chamber Member restaurants.
Member businesses raced down 5th Street on a bed they constructed for a chance to win first, second, or third place prizes, among other prizes as well. Port Panama City won first place with their bed “Overboard,” Bay Medical Sacred Heart’s Cardiovascular Team took home second place, and Lynn Haven Fire Department’s team, “Sheets and Ladders,” took home third place. The award for Best Bed Design went to Ink Trax’s “Menace to Sobriety.” The award for Best Team Name went to Harris’ “Bed Rock.”
Grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, barbeque, Blue Bell Ice Cream, drinks, a bounce house for kids, and much more were featured at the event. Live music was provided by the “LP’s.” New this year, Party Pix Photo Booth and Aerial Dance provided entertainment to those in attendance. The Junior League of Panama City was also present, collecting donations of box fans and blankets to benefit their “Elderly Outreach Program.” In return, InkTrax gave away free t-shirts for the donations.
This is the fifth year the Bay County Chamber of Commerce has held this free event for Chamber members and the community. This is the only Chamber event that is open to the entire community. We would like to thank our Board of Directors, Bay Medical Sacred Heart and InkTrax for sponsoring this event.
