GCSC Unveils “COMMODORES CARE-A-VAN”— Taking Healthcare on the Road

Gulf Coast State College (GCSC) is delighted to announce the dedication of the COMMODORES CARE-A-VAN, a significant milestone in our commitment to community well-being and nursing education.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2023, at 9:00 am in the GCSC Health Sciences parking lot on the Panama City Campus This event is open to the public and free of charge.

The COMMODORES CARE-A-VAN, a mobile healthcare unit, will provide healthcare screening services to the community, while also serving as a valuable training platform for Gulf Coast students. It embodies GCSC’s core values of education, compassion, and community service, becoming a serving as a resource for both students and the community.

“The COMMODORES CARE-A-VAN represents our dedication to serving our community and providing our health sciences and nursing students hands-on opportunities to train and perfect their skills,” said Dr. Keri Matheus, Nursing Division Chair at Gulf Coast State College. “It also pays homage to the vision and legacy of Carol Miller and the late Dr. Randy Chitwood, both instrumental in creating interprofessional learning experiences with a community service-minded approach.”

The dedication ceremony will have light refreshments and offer a glimpse into the services the COMMODORES CARE-A-VAN will provide.
