The Bay County Chamber of Commerce collaborated with Destination Panama City and Visit Panama City Beach to celebrate Bay County’s number one industry: tourism. During the week of May 7 – 13, the State of Florida recognizes the importance of tourism in the state. The Bay County Chamber took it a step further to recognize the number one industry in Bay County for the entire month of May.

Because of Bay County’s assets for tourist and the economic impact tourism plays on the local economy, the Bay County Chamber of Commerce partners with the business community to celebrate the industry through numerous events. It is our hope visitors and residents alike learn more about the history of tourism in Bay County during this month and take pride in its value to the area.

During Bay County Chamber’s Tourism Appreciation Month, the following activities will occur:

  • First Friday – May 4, 7:30 am, FSU-PC Holley Center

Held on the first Friday of every month, First Friday is a great way for Chamber Members to network and collaborate on ways to help build a better Bay, together. During May’s event, members of the Bay County Chamber and the Panama City Beach Chamber will hear from Dan Rowe, President/CEO of Visit Panama City Beach, who will provide an update on tourism in Bay County and the benefits the area is seeing as a result. This event will serve as the official “kick-off” of the Bay County Chamber’s Tourism Appreciation Month.

  • 22nd Annual Spring Classic Golf Tournament – May 11th, 11 am, Hombre Golf Club

Chamber Members and invited guests will have the opportunity to continue the celebration and make new connections at the golf tournament. Players will compete for first, second and third place while winning prizes from mini-games throughout the course. Prior to the start of the tournament, golf balls will be dropped from a bucket truck as part of the chance to win drawing, presented by the Bay County Chamber Foundation.

  • Volleyball Tournament and Business After Hours – May 15th, 4 pm, Barefoot Hide-A-Way Grill

Members will be competing against one another in a volleyball tournament. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, as well as for best team t-shirts and team name. Following the tournament, members will continue the celebration at Business After Hours where they will enjoy free food, spirits, door prizes, networking and live entertainment.

  • Shipwreck Island Family Fun Day – May 19th 10:30 am, Shipwreck Island Water Park

Shipwreck will be partnering with the Bay County Chamber to honor Tourism Appreciation Month. Members and invited guests will receive a discounted rate to one of Bay County’s most popular tourist attractions. Participants will enjoy unlimited rides and free lunch all while learning more about the impact tourism has on the area.
