Ascension Sacred Heart Bay is opening a new Women’s Diagnostic Center in February that offers 3D mammography and new technology that guides surgeons more accurately when marking the location of small breast tumors. Designed with a woman’s comfort and convenience in mind, the new women’s center will be in the medical office building of the Ascension Sacred Heart Bay hospital campus, located at 801 E. 6th St, Suite 404. This restores and greatly improves services that were unavailable after Hurricane Michael caused extensive damage to the hospital campus. Henry Stovall, regional president of Ascension Sacred Heart, says the opening is part of a multi-million dollar plan to expand Ascension Sacred Heart Bay’s service lines and provide a higher level of care to the residents and visitors of Bay County.
“The people of Bay County deserve the highest level of quality, compassionate care, and that’s what we are going to give them,” said Stovall. “We are offering the best technology available in a relaxed atmosphere, where all of our focus is on women. Our screening options may help find breast cancer early, which leads to better overall outcomes.”
The opening of Ascension Sacred Heart Bay’s Women’s Diagnostic Center marks the second opening of this type of facility in the region. Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast opened its center in June 2021. The third facility at Ascension Sacred Heart Watersound is scheduled to open in March.
The centers will provide a variety of services including:
● 3-D mammography
● A patient navigator to guide and support women, provide resources and facilitate coordination among caregivers and patients
● Bone density imaging and ultrasound
● Outpatient rehabilitation including physical therapy to strengthen pelvic floor muscles to reduce discomfort and the risk of incontinence
